If it weren't for the bad experience at the desk and the smoking at the entrance, I would give the hotel four stars. We had our own car, so I can't comment on the shuttle. Breakfast was the usual lack-luster hotel breakfast, though the coffee was OK. We had a car, but walked about 0.7 miles to the Hilton Garden Inn. If you don't have a car, eating options are limited.
It was a king room with sofa (classified as King Suite). The floor plan and furniture were very well done. It was large with a desk and a large table. Maybe she was having a bad day, but it wasn't our fault. What kind of a role model was she presenting? We dealt with her later to get an amenity, and her dismissive behavior, with the trainee present, persisted. And the irony is that she was training a young man to work at the desk - and this was his role model!? The young man seemed to be friendly and personable. Then, the lady who "helped" us was curt and unfriendly, bordering on dismissive. I don't know if this is policy, but it's not very welcoming to have to fight through cigarette smoke to register and unload. We arrived by car, and when we arrived, a number of people where smoking right at the entrance to the hotel. We stayed one night prior to a flight out of Salt Lake City airport.
